free topic

I guess since it is a free topic i will just write about anything that comes to mind. Well for instance as i woke up on this Sunday morning, i walked outside to see how the weather was going to be for today. As i looked at my car i notice that something does not look right about it, so i walk over to it and walk around the car and i notice that my car is leaning over to one side. I looked down at one of the tires and see that it is completely flat. I thought to myself how in the world it could have happened, but instead of wasting time i drive to the car shop to put some air in it.

After reading all the articles about cover letters, i would never imagined how important a cover letter can be. I never knew that something such as a cover letter could increase your chances to get a good job greatly. The advice given about cover letters are very beneficial to me and i agree with everything that i read. Many company's who are reading applications have to go through so many resumes and cover letters, but the first thing they look at is the cover letter. Based on the cover letter decides whether the company will go into further reading of your application or if they just move to the next one. Finally, i must agree with the fact that researching the company is a very smart thing to do.

Interviews

I read many of the articles and found the ones i read to be very interesting and helpful. They answered any questions that i would ever have about going into an interview and knowing what to do. In one of the articles they were talking about if you were having an interview over the phone and what to do. They basically said that you should try and dress up in your suit and talk on the phone because it makes you feel as if you were actually sitting in someones office. Learning that was helpful because when i was younger, i actually had a interview over the phone, i know it was an important job but i would still have tried it. Another article was explaining how to deal with stress during an interview. That article was most helpful to me because i can nervous about interviews real easy sometimes. Hopefully when it is time for me to start taking interviews more seriously i can remember everything i learned reading these articles.

Pesuasion

I found a article written by Caroline Kennedy and it is about the support of Barack Obama as a Presidential candidate. I chose to compare this article to MLK's letter and the army recruiters presentation. Ethos in Kennedy's article could be found easily when she kept going on about all the stories and entertainment she had celebrating her land. MLK establishes his ethos throughout the entire speech, just by the choice of words in which he used and also by how he states how he is a leader. In Kennedy's article she really didn't really have any examples of logos, but while i was reading it she did make some very reasonable and logical announcements which helped her out a good bit. As far as logos goes, i would say that the army recruiters showed many examples of that. They said that you could take out student loans while in college, but if you join the army, the army will pay all that money back to the school which you borrowed from, which means you can pocket all the rest of the money along with paying for your school. Pathos was displayed throughout Kennedy's letter along with MLK's speech. For Caroline Kennedy, she stated many facts using family members, and when you start to include family members, times can start to become very emotional. In MLK's speech he used very strong quotes which have very powerful meanings which can also be very persuasive and emotional at the same time.
